Wasps are flying insects and are found all over the world. There are many different species of wasps, but they typically have slender bodies and two pairs of wings. They can range in size from 2-4mm to up to 5cm long. Wasps feed on a small invertebrates such as caterpillars, and also feed on nectar. They play an important role in controlling insect populations as they prey on agricultural pests.
Wasps are social insects, living together in colonies of hundreds or thousands of individuals. Their nests are constructed from a paper-like material created from wood pulp and saliva that is produced by the wasps themselves.
